Welcome to the AI in Education podcast

With Dan Bowen from Microsoft Australia and Ray Fleming from InnovateGPT

It's a fortnightly chat about Artificial Intelligence in Education - what it is, how it works, and the different ways it is being used. It's not too serious, or too technical, and is intended to be a good conversation of background information.

Of course, as well as getting it here on the website, you can also just subscribe to your normal podcast service:

“This podcast is produced by a Microsoft Australia & New Zealand employee, alongside an employee from InnovateGPT. The views and opinions expressed on this podcast are our own.”

This week's podcast is a deeply insightful interview with Zanné van Wyk, Head of Data and Analytics from the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, who has a background in both school and tertiary education data analytics and using AI for predictive analytics. Zanné discusses her and her team's role to deliver actionable predictive analytics for the Diocese. The podcast discovers the variety of data sources needed (including coal prices, to predict dropouts), and that you need a different data architecture for reporting\dashboards than you do for predictive analytics. And we also discover the three critical dependencies to deliver effective business value (data analytics strategy, executive support, and a governance framework).

Overall this is a fascinating podcast interview with somebody who's working at the pointy end of AI and data in education, and shares what's been learnt along the journey. Find out more about Zanné and her work at https://www.linkedin.com/in/zannevanwyk/
