Hi, welcome to the AI in education podcast. I'm Dan. We hope you've enjoyed series 3.
Oops. I know that 2020 has been a long year so far, but Dan's got a bit ahead of himself. We actually just finishing series 2 with our 28th episode, but I'll let Dan continue
with done some amazing interviews with some really exciting people and we hopefully managed to find a lot more people smarter than ourselves as we promised at the beginning of the series. Um, we heard from a lot of Microsoft industry specialists a lot along the way there and a lot of school leaders who give us lots of insights into how AI is affecting their industry and also how their industries are applicable to education. So hopefully you found those really useful. Um, some of my favorite episodes were Zanne Van Wyk from Maitland Newcastle Catholic Education Diocese. She really defined how her team fitted together and what skills she needed and our strategy fitted in place. And also there was a big focus of her if you remember back on AI for good. So go back and listen to that one if you're really interested in that K12 strategy space. Um it was also interesting to hear from some of the industry representatives from Microsoft  Ray interviewed Marcy Larson from retail industry and the government and public safety lead Nicole. It was really interesting to see their kind of work and what they'd been doing in say the retail spaces and crime prevention to see how companies from the retail angle were actually surviving and fighting back against the closure of lots of things in high street using big data and then from the crime and crime prevention angle, seeing how we were using unstructured data and police sources as we were bringing together lots of that unstructured data on mobile phones and it's got a lot of parallels to education. So go back and listen to some of those. So we we look different industries around health as well like I said security and a couple of other areas. So go back and have a listen to some of those. Um finally we ended up with Mark last week interviewed Mark Stanley from Literatu and we really got under the hood around some of the big problems in education. We talked about Lapland data and then also the anal analysis of writing which is a biggie. Uh Mark also shared with us his belief that I suppose ML came before AI like the chicken and egg situation. So that was really interesting to to listen to and actually how he he gives some advice. advice on tips on how schools can start to look at the data they already have. So, all in all, I suppose this has been an excellent series. I've really enjoyed it. We'll take a break over Easter and start mixing things up a little bit. I think uh we got to get a little more technical and and really looking inside that black box and see what emerging technology is on the horizon. As well, we've got some really exciting changes coming to the podcast in terms of guests and format. Um, and we can't wait to share that with you. in the in the coming weeks. So, have a great and very safe and healthy Easter and we'll catch up with you all soon.
